news.cnet.com — My colleague Molly Wood called it a privacy nightmare, but to many, Google's new social-networking tool Buzz is at its root an unwanted, unasked for pest. We didn't opt in to some newfangled Twitter system and we don't particularly want to see updates from contacts we never asked to follow creep up in our Buzz in-box.

I wish I could have put it as eloquently as you: forcing people to opt out is NEVER a good thing.I knew when I signed up for gmail that I was at Google's mercy, but for a company that "don't be evil" this is, short of jackbooting round the homes of my contact list, pretty f**king wrong.

@bingoin10 Lol well considering the entire statement would be a good start, and secondly actually using your brain to think about what was actually said, versus whatever you were already thinking when you found your turn to speak would help a lot.Of course there was the option when Buzz first starts up that lets you just not use it at all. And I find it funny that you could GUARANTEE I'd bitch about anything since of course my only statement was a comment. Not a Nazi rant. But having heard your statement, you seem like you must bitch about a lot of things. But that's not really what I think, you make it seem like it's what you think though.I'm trying to figure out though, was that 'comment' you replied with a comment or some next level Troll s**t? In any case it was some good fun. People can be amusing.

seems like you need to follow your own advise instead of "teaching" others

God i wish social networking would just die already. It was cute at first, but now that companies are constantly stepping all over our privacy.

No offense but you're not that special and nobody is following up on you so nobody even noticed that your contacts went public. Many people are whining even though they have not been directly affected by the change. I see your point but how has it affected you?

Google to new ally NSA: you've got the long weekend to gather our users' contacts via Buzz, on Tuesday we'll apologize and block - do you have enough time, and oh yes, about China...
