I'm sure that many people who have gotten pardons over the years from various presidents and governors have had some sort of connections. Some cases must have real merit, obviously, but I'm sure plenty have been on the basis that a family member/friend/attorney has had connections to somebody in the upper echelon of the administration. Hell, even some of the ones with real merit have probably only gone through because of connections.It's all about who you know in life.
