thinkprogress.org — Last night on the PBS Newshour, Jim Lehrer asked President Bush why he hasn?t called on Americans to sacrifice something to help our country in this time of struggle. Bush claimed Americans are sacrificing: ?They sacrifice peace of mind when they see the terrible image of violence on TV every night.? See the video here.

It's not a war. Anything with a gun in it is not a war. We were attacked by a religious cult, and called it a war. We invaded a country and took the oil, and we called it a war. By this definition, you could get into a war with a toll booth in Armenia if they toss a popsicle stick at an American tourist. By Bush's definition, we're at war with everything until Jesus comes back to Rapture the 144K up. And by his rules, he's the decider until the war ends -- which it can't.This isn't a war, it's a coup.

Maarek. We just hung a country's leader by remote control. And Manuel Noriega is still sitting in a military prison in the U.S. Maybe, if he isn't in a torture camp. He was the President of Panama, which we invaded during Bush 41. We killed a couple thousand civilians, kidnapped their government and stuck it in an American prison. We don't do justice here. Bush is receiving Pope-like exemption from that which he casually does to any other country on the planet. Why is he immune to his own "justice"? That's the thing about claiming the moral high ground. You have to have morals.

KArthVadar I'm currently 18 I turned 18 in 2006. I was happy to vote those repugs out of office.. WHy? Beucase since 2001 I had almost no control over what this country does. I couldn't vote. Yet I get blamed for Bush being in office even though I was old enough to vote against him. I agree with you. Me, and many others in my generation will be footing this bill becauseadults didn't really think aobut us when we were growing up..

Thank you for reminding me why I choose to live my life as a liberal, and an atheist.

Diggerals only concern is that they don't get drafted by their 'Progressive' [insurance] Overlords, and that mommy gives them the money for their game systems that they deserve. The most responsibility that a Diggeral can handle is to flush after using the facilities, and we cannot even depend on them to do that. As far as not peeing on the toilet seat, we gave up on those hopes years ago.
