LOL, the biggest advantage is absolute control! We all know how well it goes when founders maintain absolute control over a social site. Just ask Wal-Mart.
I suppose forums are so old school... now it's all about having your own social network. It's great but I give it no more than two years before the next wave of networking pops up.
Because Digg doesn't have a button that says, "Wow, if true this is something I want to look into more, but right now I don't have the time to read the article. Also, the front page flies by so quickly, and the search SUCKS so hard that the only way I can keep track of this link is to use some form of web-based bookmarking system... perhaps... Digg."If Digg had a button "Seriously?!?" then I'd click that, and then later when I had the time, I'd Digg or Bury.
