I think his technique for learning languages will not work well. I've learned a few, and constantly linking back to your "native" language is a prescription for frustration and failure.
I know that the suggested memorization method even works for Japanese. The Japanese word for semiconductor is 半導体 "handohtai" and I always picture a scientist giving away free semiconductors - a handout.Sometimes they're not very politically correct - the word for a curfew (at a dormitory) is 門限 "mongen" and the mnemonic is that you feel monged if you don't get to bed early. To be honest, I've never actually vocalized the associations though - they are formed and recalled automatically, almost like a suggestion of a picture rather than the picture being there at all. Everyone who can speak a foreign language uses this technique to some extent but they might not be using it consciously.
Further, the example words he gives seem to betray either an ignorance of, or at least willingness to ignore, correct pronunciation. That's a recipe for disaster. Also, how is this technique supposed to furnish one with grammatical and syntactical understanding?

While the quality of the writing wasn't that great, the content within was what was great, I think this could really be of practical use to most people.
This site is great for someone like me who doesn't have the best memory. The techniques seem to be pretty easy to learn and so far are working. I do like the section on the Roman room. Great way for rememberring shopping lists ;-)Definately dig this site!
Have visited this site a number of times now, each time i learn something new that i had missed the previous time. This site is extremely well put together and very easy to use, a completely fantastic site for those who had problems remembering faces or names. There is something within this site for everyone. Anyone who has not taken a look i recommend that you do.

Don't tell her! You won't have an excuse next time you "forget" her birthday.

For someone with a memory as bad as mine this site is the one. Shame I didn't come across it when I was a student though!
