kaneva.com — Wouldn't it be great if anybody could make there own MMO game of any type or genere with little programming. Well you can Kaneva has a game engine that allows you to build. The engine seems very easy to use and supports all major graphics packages.

Wouldn't it be great if everyone could paint realistic pictures? As of the advent of photography, everybody can.Doesn't mean anyone wants to look at most people's pics, though...

Kaneva is one of the least desireable engines to try to make an MMORPG with. Game design isn't just about C++ libraries...specifically it has nothing to do with them. Kaneva is perfect for those interested in making a short single player platform game. This is the type of article that cheapens digg IMO.

No Lightwave support = no digg.

Wow, programming really isn't that hard, especially if you pick a platform to develop for that's easy as dirt. I'll leave ti at that, but OS X is great. :-P

Isn't this a repeat of a digg some weeks ago?

Thanks for the great comments. Not to rant but I just wanted to clear something up. The producer of the content uploaded to Kaneva either videos, games or otherwise is totally owned by the producer(s). You can take your game off Kaneva at any time and port it to any other engine if you desire. There were are few comments that we own everything and that is simply not the case. We are really trying to democratize the games market by putting out this engine, not try to "trick" anyone. If you can find a company that will buy all your servers, host your game, give you the technology and do you billing at even 5% royalty you would be lucky. I myself in 1999 created an MMO title and I just couldn't keep up with technology and costs to keep it running. That is why Kaneva was created to give game developers a tool to get most of the way there. Yes everyone will not be able to create a great game (to the typewriter comment above) but I know some people will and I am excited to play them. Anyway how many here can afford the cost of an engine and integration (typically > $500k). That is the power of Kaneva. Everyone can have a shot at following their dream and making the next big thing.Greg Frame - Co-Founder / Kaneva
