economist.com — In the book ?Bring up a Genius!? the author's favourite sayings was ?Geniuses are made, not born.? He raised three world class champion chess players -- just by spending time with them in their early dev. How much time and money is wasted on talent searches for smart kids? What's the real secret to bringing up a genius child?

So the guy's a chess player. And he spends 10 hours per day (!!!) drilling his kids in chess. And they become successful chess players. This proves that ability is not innate, but taught?Did anyone claim that ability is COMPLETY innate, that a gifted child doesn't need to practise? And who determined his kids weren't gifted wrt playing chess to start with?Fuzzy thinking, fuzzy conclusions, junk science. I do pity his kids, however.
