I was all ready to burst a flame on Climate Progress for putting up junk science, until I realised that they were being facetious. I immediately took issue with the title; one year of warming events shouldn't be held up as a demonstration of global warming, or they should NOT use the words global warming unless they are equally happy with global cooling being used for the next downturn. Unprecedented ... from the cited data Jan 82 to Jan 83 shows a 0.46C difference. And Jan 2007 to Jan 2008 was a -0.72C difference. The contribution of carbon dioxide to global warming should not be detectable in the year to year fluctuations, but only in the longer term. The sarcastic tone of the article is subtle and will be missed by many. I understand that ClimateProgress state "semi-serious" in the last paragraph but they should not have been even "semi" at all with the first part and made it very clear (such as some of GreenFyre's "proof that summer 2008 never happened").
