I don't personally get what the big deal is... UTube has been around since 1985. Then all of a sudden this YouTube site comes around and all of a sudden UTube's hosting bills shoot way up.Sure, nothing was intentional, YouTube wasn't trying to take advantage of UTube... It was all just an unfortunate coincidence.Now comes the bigger problem... UTube has built their name up over the past 20 years. Why should they be the ones that get forced in to changing their name? YouTube is costing them money, it wasn't intentional... but its happening.I don't understand what the problem with this lawsuit is..... There are crazy lawsuits out there that should never make it to the courtroom... this one, I don't know. I'd say UTube has grounds to protect their name. If they get forced in to changing their name and losing business just because some 16 year olds want to sing karaoke on the internet... that just doesn't make sense.

I'm guessing its all the people who've heard about the google buyout in the mainstream media, then went to see what this 'youtube' thing is all about, but spelt it wrong. Notice how the hits have only spiked recently?

Hrm...Why doesn't YouTube (Google) offer Utube free or discounted hosting in exchange for a button at the top of the page that says "Looking for YouTube Videos? - Click here". Then again I doubt Google actually has a windows server for those .ASP pages.

they should be thanking youtube, they're getting some free traffic for nothing.besides, i doubt they have any legal grounds, youtube is not purposely or accidentally infringing on utube's name, u and you sound alike. big woop.

IF you actually think about it rather than just jumping to random conclusions it makes perfect sense that UTube would wait until now...Before the Google aquisition of YouTube, YouTube was worth nadda, nothing, nowt.. sweet F.A. They had no cash reserves, they were using capital up at an alarming rate, and essentially it was pointless trying to sue them.. the litigator would get diddly squat.NOW, however, with Google's billions of US Dollars in the bank, people are will be lining up to take their chances and cash in on a billion dollar sueing law suit against YouTube and Google.Hence YouTube is quickly purging all copyrighted files and material from its servers, its taking time, but they will eventually reach a point whereby there is no copyrighted footage on YouTube.THe purpose of the Google aquisition is to allow the older media's (BMG and all that lot) a chance at reaching their old audiences which had long deserted them for the likes of internet downloads. Watch this space folks.... watch this space. YouTube is going to change beyond recognition. Joe Former Business Analyst.
