blogs.houstonpress.com — Crosby Middle School parents are furious after learning that a school board trustee's "motivational speech" to their children included graphic descriptions of both oral and anal sex. Worse, students apparently were told to keep the contents of the speech a secret.

Most of us in middle school would have enjoyed a speech like this.... We were not "little babies" that couldn't handle some sex talk. Many of us have had sex, toked, etc by that time.

@quirkopatra: Stop taking things so literally. My kids don't go anywhere near Digg or the Internet for that matter. I was trying to make a point that you're too thick to get which is that kids are going to be exposed to unpleasant things from time-to-time and it's a parent's responsibility to give them the wits to know how to deal with it and be there when something like this upsets them. Kids are great. They're very resilient. They don't need crusaders like you trying to sanitize the world for them. But if that's your preferred approach, I'd appreciate it if you practice what you preach and refrain from posting swear words on Digg. I mean, some kid somewhere might see that. Then what?! Anyway, I'm betting all those kids who heard this stupid talk are way over the so-called trauma of it already. They don't need you overreacting on their behalf.@iimjpii: I hope you were talking to quirkopatra. If not, I was being ironic.

I really don't know the contents of what she talked to the students about -- but one lecture about Baby-Making isn't going to damage kids and it doesn't meant they AREN'T getting other education. Why do you assume that having ONE talk about one thing negates the other? The MATH that kids should learn is that, Teen + Baby = Less chance of a successful future."It seems to me that a curriculum surrounding blowjobs and anal sex is more likely to result in standards of "Bro's before Ho's"...">> Nope, that's Jersey Shores on MTV. That's the OTHER curriculum that they can acquire in the absence of people talking straight to them. That, unfortunately, is reality, even though I put it forward as a joke. I'm guessing if this lady felt the need to risk her career on the last day of school -- maybe she's seen her share of kids getting knocked up.I'm just concerned about this OVERZEALOUS concept that people should be thrown in jail and that ANYTHING you might not like is automatically a crime. Sure, the parents might be pissed -- but if their kids are damaged by one talk about sex at this age, then they are in for some real trouble.I just talked to my 16-year-old niece about her "experimentation with pot." Obviously, she has assumed that the "tales of it's horrible power are exaggerated." I said, there is a lot of Bulls**t from people who want you to NOT try it so they use scare tactics. The problem is -- while one thing might be harmless (pot), another might not. And it's not coming from some company that has a mailing address. The important thing, I told her, is that I NEVER TRIED ANY ILLEGAL DRUGS AS A KID. Not because I was afraid of them -- I just couldn't stand giving in to weak ass conformists. Regardless of the EVIL or not of marijuana -- if the some kid in her group gets in trouble -- they won't be any understand -- she will be screwed.Just to put this in perspective.
