That's its *intended* function, yes. To be a hub to the entire Internet. Unfortunately, it seems more of a hub to spammer's stories (destructiod, engadget, gizmodo, kotaku et al), "lolcats", and other *chan content.

It's funny that the Wired reporter writes about Gizmodo's stories as if Wired is completely separate from that when the second highest link at the side is "NSFW Gallery: Blu-Ray Porn, Mechanized Masturbation and Upskirts at Japan's First Sex Show." It's not that I disapprove, just pointin out the hypocrisy
