Right on: not long after joining Netflix I canceled my cable service. Netflix allows me to catch up on shows like Lost or 24, or I can go back and find something I missed, like Firefly or Freaks and Geeks. Netflix subscription is a lot cheaper than cable with DVR (the only way to go- I can't stand commercials anymore).

I am told that many of the Blockbuster locations near where I live don't accept their own movies from their mail program, so I will be surprised if they accept these either.

I work for Blockbuster and will say that I know a Manager from another store who went to a convention where businesses had set up tables for consumers. She said a netflix representative came over and stated that they (netflix) was going to put us out of business. I find it hard to believe that anyone would say that. Like coke vs. pepsi, no one is gonna go away. This country thrives on competition and that is why we as consumers should get good deals possible. Not one is perfect. Each has it's pro's and con's. But, I made my decision based on what was told that I will make sure I can do the best at my job so that netflix and that employee will eat their words. For those who love netflix stay away from blockbuster. plain and simple. I have numerous netflix customers come in to rent at my store. I am a total access customer and rent for my kids on-line and get my movies when they are done. Also, I buy movies that are still new releases cheap. Two $14.99 movies for $21.20 with a third for free for being a total access customer. For those who want to reserve a movie you can call before you come in and we'll hold it for 20 min. We will try and resolve for you any on-line issues as they come up. Call us if necessary. We will even call support for you and resolve it. If you have movies that won't play because it's scratched, changed your mind about the rental right after you rented it, or someone in your family has already seen it long as it is the same day. I normally exchange it for another rental. Also the guaranteed in stock. Most times when a store is inundated by customers who will stock up on movies in case of I.E a nor'easter that was to come, but came into my store after the rush and couldn't find a newer title. I gave out numerous coupons. I will give out coupons to customers, for instances I deem it necessary. That is my prerogative as a manager on duty. One thing is for sure. Blockbuster is only trying to retain its customers, not try and steal them away from netflix. I take what the netflix representative said as a direct threat to my job. I am married with two kids and will always do the best to make sure all customers leave my store satisfied. Oh yeah, most of the netflix customers who have changed to total access have stated that they have a hard time getting new releases that day. I get mine every Tues. If I did not get to rent them as a pre-street. I get five a week for free before they get released. Perks of work. Some customers have benefited from my 20% employee discount on new release for sale. Again, my choice. I'm all about customer satisfaction.
