web.mac.com — Monday night we got a little present in the mail. It was from a collections company. Interesting. I open it up quickly see that it was a collection for non other than Blockbuster. It was for a grand total of $39.41. Sure I can pay this, but what the heck is it for? So I called my friendly neighborhood Blockbuster to find out.

Now, I have a Blockbuster employee posting on my Blog to tell me to stop "bitching".Again, nice business model.....

Blockbuster employs thousands of individuals. Their individual opinions have nothing to do with any "business model".You are bitching. If there was no charge at all for keeping an item indefinitely, Blockbuster wouldn't be a movie rental place. It would be a "come buy video games for $8" place. They are a business, and they need to remain profitable.

@chookalanai had a feeling you submitted this article from your own blog...

I agree with moojack. If you just be nice to the people who work there, you might get a chance they forgive your mistakes. It was not just once I'm sure the store I went to in Oregon that let me go with the late fees(still the old policy) as long as you can explain the reason why you returned them late and talk nicely they might just be nice to you. Treat others like you want to be treated. That's the rule of the universe. They don't get paid much anyway :)

@ Moojack "A good 60% of the customers that come into the store I work in throw their receipt in the trash while walking out the door."and thats blockbusters problem/fault, how?

I don't think you understood what I was saying. Of course it isn't Blockbuster's fault. But that generally the people that come in and complain about their late items are usually in that 60% that throw away their reciepts. I'm just saying that people have no right to complain if their forget when their rentals are due back if they throw away their reciepts.I simply tried to put some humor into my post by saying that they would ask me to throw their reciepts away for them. Even though, that really isn't funny since that does happen any way.

I wonder if all the "it's your fault for not reading the fine print" posters would feel the same way if they were the next customer in line and chookalana had actually stood there and read all the terms on the front and back of the receipt before signing it (assuming he used his credit card,) asking the clerk to clarify each point.I'm betting they wouldn't.
