I'm happy with my B&W's out of Lightroom. Photoshop has now become the tool for comping.

great tutorial....certainly a heck of a lot better than what most people do (the ol "convert to B&W").if you don't go as far as what they're recommending in this tutorial....at LEAST use the channel mixer tool in monochrome.

At first I was going to be like, "Oh great, a tutorial about Curves." But some of this stuff is actually pretty useful! When I know I want black and white, I usually shoot on b&w film (I like medium format for that) because digital just can't do black and white yet. But some of these techniques are even good for enhancing film scans.
