No s**t reallly? Lets write a blog post about everyone else's first impressions. Where is he getting his "user reports" from? An article on DIGG?Ive been watching the mac fan sites, and the apple discussion boards with keen interest, so far no *mass* complaining about any of these issues. No digg.
Except, like the ipods, they don't just "paint" them. It's actually black plastic. That would be damn cheap of apple to make you pay 200 dollars more for "black paint"
I saw this peeling in person. If you scratch the sharp edge where the screen meets the top of the case the dull finish will peel off. Just like the link above. This is the main reason why i didnt buy mine just yet. . . FIX IT APPLE!
unfortunately, i saw it happening on the bottom of a black macbook at the applestore in sf. the matte finish gave way to a shiny slick waxy looking layer. i was wondering if it was due to heat or abuse, but i dont recall dents. just a sheen. could it have been tape that was taped on for some wierd reason? no idea.what i saw was different from the flickr picture that was posted in the comments btw.

Looks more like he scraped it or really banged it against something. If you look closely, you can see dents along the top where the "flaking" occured.
