internetnews.com— Microsoft spent a whole day at the Black Hat conference extolling the security enhancements in its upcoming Vista operating system, and hackers showed that the OS can be hacked regardless.

They can't "fix" Vista. It's based on the same old crappy codebase, and the Redmond "programmers" have little clue - all the good guys left years ago. The release date will be pushed further back, and the final product will just be a version of XP with a few new pretty desktop effects (SP3 ?). Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the MS pre-eminence - the userbase and OEMs will realise that they've all been taken in, and ever fewer people will waste money with Microsoft.
Windows does limit raw disk I/O to administrators. So she seems to be saying that if you can get root you can root the box. Shocking. Shocking, I tell you.
Hosiah,If your going to at least humor my comment at least have some kind of relatively useful information to argue against me with rather than just being like "oh yeah right! all your base belong to us!!!"Ignorance is bliss when it comes to Linux I guess, is that what your saying? Did you miss my point entirely? I said when Linux holds a Black Hat conference exactly how Microsoft held this one and they get a clean bill of health then I will switch! Not sure how free or open source fell into that equation in any way!!This free means better mantra is cool, yeah free stuff is good! But free doesn't always mean better!!
I almost pity the team that they sent. What do you think they did to deserve that job? There was no way it was a reward. Think they announced 'dead man walking' on their way in?

All I can say is owned. They will probably fix it parts of it, though, but it will never be totally secure.
