widescreengamingforum.com — Both demo versions of Bioshock have a huge bug dealing with setting the FOV in widescreen resolutions - to create the 16:9 image, it's rendering a 4:3 image, zooming in and chopping off the bottom and the top. Make sure that 2K games knows that this is completely unacceptable and ruins the game for a lot of consumers.

Hmmm, this is interesting though. I noticed that some of the HUD items, the radio display to be specific, were cut off the edges of my screen. I went to all the trouble of adjusting hidden service menu values to reduce the overscan of my TV so I could see all the HUD items. If the image is "zoomed" in, that would explain why all the HUD items are so damn close to the edge of the screen.

Except it DOES support HD resolutions (widescreen by nature), and it should properly support being displayed in widescreen.

Yeah, it's stupid. I'm running in 1600x1200 instead of 1920x1200, the monitor's native res, heh.

If there's one thing bound to bring out people making misleading posts about things they clearly don't understand, it's widescreen gaming. Like Elliutatar *sigh*

The pic posted above (<a class="user" href="http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2007/08/bioshockwss**t.jpg)">http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2007/08/bioshockwss**t.jpg)</a> makes the point well. As you approach the stairs the 4:3 user will see something nasty at the top of the stairs longer than the ws player. I think a fair approach would have been to make a cross, i.e. the 4:3 user gets to see a bit more top and bottom and the ws user gets a bit more at the sides. (This happens on some film matts, esp if shot on hires video.) You only get more resolution in the centre in ws if you have a hires monitor (1280x800 owners lose out to 1280x1024 in every respect). My feeling - a bit annoying but not end of the world, probably will run ws tho, unless get annoyed being shot by flying things I can't see.
