I see genetically modified plant material such as algae as the way of the future as far as biodisel is concerned, however relying on a source of energy that can be wiped out via sabotage or mother nature is haphazard.
Propane is scented using garlic grown with fertilizer gleaned from port-o-lets. It is grown as inedible. Fuel crops can be grown using treated sewage and keeping that out of our rivers and streams, while guaranteeing that they do not impact the food supply.
