I have installed the game on Vista and have determined that there IS NO ROOT KIT (I know how to find out too)! Kinda hard to do on that platform anyways AS IT IS NOT POSSIBLE! IIts the same issue the anti-virus companies are all whining about. They can't gain access to that portion of the machine. You can't do what is being stated. It's all just sensationalism. Lies and half truths.
Rootkit or not, 2K has proven that they think they are doing you a favor by allowing you to pay for a restrictive license to play bioshock.Any bad press they get, genuine or not, is deserved. Guess what assh**es, if you make a good game, people will pay for it to a great enough extent that the thieves won't get in the way of you making plenty of money. But if you tell me two times ever, and then generously decide 5 by 5, you can count on never seeing me as a customer ever.
although this may not actually install a root kit, it still installs securon, usually I would love to stear clear of securon, basically because there a bunch of ass licking turd suckers, but though it pains me to say I have securon on my comp, and so do most other people, it's just stealthed all the time, so I would play this game. but tbh I wouldn't buy it because of the fact it can only be instaled twice then it's just a coffee mat for my desk
I was going to buy this game on Steam... "oh boy! no CD swapping" was my thought. Then I decided to grab the demo first to see how it'd perform. And I get a Securom error trying to run it!f**k this, I'm stealing the pirate copy without the DRM malware. This is NOT where downloadable games should be going. This publisher just lost my business too.
Well bioshock is a great game but companies don't understand. Pirates aren't lost sales. Have you pirated something you would've actually paid for otherwise? Everybody pirates a little but anything i've downloaded, I would have never paid for. Even if in the end i enjoyed it, I wouldn't have played it if I didn't buy it so it is still not lost revenue. They are probably wasting more money than they are making (off the people who were "beat" by copy protection) by paying people to program the DRM and keeping those servers running. who's with me on this? P.S Did i mention the pirated version doesn't install these registry entries?:P

You can play them as long as you are logged into Live. Lame yes, but at least you can play them.
