cnsnews.com — A Democratic lawmaker has introduced a bill that would ban the sale of traditional incandescent light bulbs - which are less energy-efficient, prompting claims that they contribute to "global warming" - one day after a colleague told a press conference that legislating a ban would be a "last choice."

Here's the actual bill, straight from the House's website.http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:H.R.1547.IH:

Well, whaddaya know! On tonite's TV news is a story about how these CFL lamps overheat when they get old and burn houses down. Great! Another brilliant commie idea coming to your neighborhood compliments of Al Gore and the greenies! I can't believe how many commie morons fall for this stuff.

*shakes head*Don't they know the greenhouse effect isn't real?

I am all for the environment, but it seems a little restrictive to ban a certain kind of light bulb. Instead of banning a certain type of light bulb, why not set a watts per lumen limit? That way we get more efficient bulbs, but are not restricted in the type we can buy.

"Nanny State"... Oh, ok Rush Limpballs. Let me guess who you voted for... Bush? Was it a "Nanny State" when Bush took away our Freedoms? Or does that just apply to a certain type of bulb you can buy in a store? Exagerate much? Nanny State..... LOLOLOL...Oh brother.

Coming from you, I'd say you were more concerned about that somebody "important" who was losing from this rather than gaining. Just a hunch.

Could be a false positive, eg: The hippy types who buy them, also spend all day naked on the beach?

Concerned about somebody "important" who would lose from the ban? Yeah, hey, you are a genius! I am extremely concerned about the masses of people who lose out when the gov't starts banning and regulating things they have no business banning or regulating.

This is probably not original, but how about banning stupid people from becoming politicians?I use both Incandescent, and CFLs. Florescent light alone gives me a headache, so especially in locations where I am cooking, or reading, I really like to have incandescent lights. On the other hand, CFLs are great for lighting the outside of the house.Freedom of choice, is what you've got.Freedom from choice, is what you want.
