youtube.com — In a rare moment of honesty while interviewing Sen. John McCain, Bill O'Reilly explains his opposition to immigration: preserve white, male, Christian power. In his own words: "They want to break down the white, Christian, male power structure, which you?re a part, and so am I..."

I dugg this because I found it interesting, but I have to say, O'Reilly's comment seemed a *little* tounge-in-cheek. It's the "far left" as he calls it that truly does use terms like "white, Christian, male power structure"... but then, the use of the term didn't really seem to upset him too much either. All that said, what does O'Reilly expect to do though? Even if the U.S. government were magically able to deport every illegal immigrant and prevent all new illegals (hint: a wall's not going to do it) not only would the feds be doing harm to the nation--through the expense of the "war on immigrants", through the brutal hit to the U.S. economy by removing them, and through the increased militarization of the state--but they'd only be delaying the inevitable.Bottom line is this: the hispanics in the U.S. have more kids than white America. Period. Mainstream America (and Europe for that matter) has become comfortable and complacent with riches and success, and have decided that 2.1 kids or less is ideal for them. It's only a matter of time before the culture changes, and the diminishment of white America to a minority will be an entirely self-inflicted "wound" (if you want to be so arrogant as to think of natural change as being a wound.)Anyone interested about what's coming should Google an article called "Shift Happens" which outlines this very clearly (Dan Carlin's latest "Common Sense" podcast is good too). Soon, the number one English speaking nation in the world is going to be CHINA. They already have more high-IQ citizens that North America has citizens. And it's all due to their numbers. This is going to occur in the Hispanic demographics as well, and there is nothing that can be done about it.Well, almost nothing. Prosperity within a society tends to bring about a lowering in population growth (for whatever reason.) The U.S. *could* try to allow the Hispanic communities to become prosperous. Oh, but gosh, that would mean letting them into the country where that's actually a possibility, and where they'll help the economy grow, and allowing them to compete on equal footing with everyone else, and arguing for freedom and small government across the world. And I guess we just can't do that....

More than that, he actually identified with it. I think he believes that white male Christians deserve their prominent place in the power structure, and the fact that others do not reach the same lofty heights says more about the inherent inferiority of their skin color, gender and religion. If O'Reilly wanted to make a fair point, he could say that PoMo lefties often encourage immigrants to not integrate into the local culture because it's a form of racism. But this puts immigrants at a disadvantage, which is then used to demonstrate the racism of the local culture. Of course, this should not be interpreted to mean that racism doesn't exist, but that in some cases, minority groups that emphasize cultural identity often create more economic inequality.

Bill O'Reilly's comment about illegal immigration posing "a threat to the white male Christian power structure" in this country is far more revealing of O'Reilly's attitude than of anything else. For starters, if you take a closer look at who's screaming the loudest bloody murder in the immigration debate in favor of a tough crackdown, it's white males such as O'Reilly. Why do they feel that the "white male Christian power structure" is under threat? Because in fact, it really IS under threat -- and deservedly so. Religion aside, white males are a MINORITY of the U.S. population. According to the 2000 Census, white males comprise less than a third of America's now-300 million people. They're outnumbered, first and foremost, by white females -- always have been, always will be (because females outnumber males overall in the world population). And white females have gained tremendous political and economic power in the last 35 years -- much of it at white males' expense.Latinos are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population, now outranking African Americans as the nation's largest ethnic minority. So essentially, what we have in this country is a white male minority power structure. A power structure that is freaking out because white males can no longer keep all the reins of power, as they become more and more outnumbered. Unlike South Africa under the old white minority apartheid system, the white male power structure in this country cannot resort to brute force to keep the more than two-thirds majority of Americans who are not white males in check (especially since so many of them legally own firearms). I put religion aside earlier, because even when you factor in religion, Christians overall are becoming a shrinking majority in this country. According to the most recent (2001) American Religious Identification Survey, a private survey conducted for the Census Bureau (which is itself constitutionally barred from collecting religion data), the percentage of Americans identifying as Christians, inclusive of all of its more than 400 denominations, stood at 78 percent in 2001, compared to 85 percent in 1991. Americans of Muslim and Buddhist faiths registered the greatest increases, according to ARIS. So O'Reilly indeed engaged in a rare moment of candor with his remark.
