yes, the Gates Foundation donates Windows to schools. how malevolent of him. It's the gift that keeps on giving...well at least back to his pocket. The Gates (tax shelter) Foundation is used to make tactical donations to hide media-sensitive humanitarian side-effects of treaties, such as the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), which Gates has supported. TRIPS requires countries to agree to respect drug and other patents, therefore preventing the local manufacture of existing pharmaceuticals still under patent such as AIDS drugs in Africa. Back to his pocket again.
My family owns 55k worth of MSFT stock, and I dont know what to think. I wonder if this is good for MSFT in the long run or bad. I wish Bill the best of luck, but hopefully he wont forget about the shareholders.
It's all a shrewd plan to improve Vista sales and maintain Microsoft's market dominance. People are not going to be happy paying big bucks to Microsoft for Vista, but if it will help the Third World (by benefitting the Gates Foundation), why not? In addition, MIT's $100 computer project for the Third World needs an operating system. What better OS for it than Windows?? Especially if using Windows means lots of aid will be arriving, too (just like MIT already received a big donation from Gates). These are all things the Gates Foundation can help make happen! :-)
my country (nepal) runs on 3.5 billion a year and this.. is beacuse of all the army expenses, once we have peace (hopefully soon), 50 billion (Bill Gates money)... my counry could run for atleast 15 years without any problem... imagine.. bill gates has the money to run a country for 15 years with no revenue collection at all... and the country has 25 million plus people... and who was that talking about about enough for his life??microsoft needs new minds... and maybe some of you guys at digg ( i mean the visitors) can go there and make it better, after all, its microsoft, .. its microsoft... althought we curse it and hate it.. its still microsoft, it deserves a little respect, and with gate's work on india and health and eucation issues, .. he is a nerd (is he?? ) but a recpectable one!! all the best Gates... and lets give microsoft some new people (ballmer?? you sd get an island and stay there)....
Since Microsoft has become some sort of mythical giant, here are my recommendation for a replacement.Disney's own Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse has had a drop in popularity as of late. How many movies has he starred in lately? His residual checks must not adequitely cover his cheese addiction. Since mice and computers go together, plus it would really piss off Steve Jobs if Mickey left Disney, I think it is a win-win for both Mickey and Microsoft.Just add the ears to the Microsoft Logo and you can market that baby all day long. Mickey Microsoft T-Shirts, hats, lawn furniture, ice cube trays, and the list goes on...While they are at it, they can get Goofy also and he can serve up the crash messages. "OOOps, I Goofed up! Reboot."
