desktoplinux.com — Would-be Windows-on-Linux gamers got a very early Christmas present today, with the release by CodeWeavers of the first public beta of CrossOver, with support for World of Warcraft and other "steam-based" games such as Half Life 2 and Counterstrike.

Wake up - transgaming.com has had their Wine product, named Cedega, for years. It does a great job with Warcraft.

Wow, I got dugg down for having a valid point.GIMP or Pixel is not even close to what Photoshop can do, don't even try it. My point is there are a lot of apps that Linux needs to run before any professionals are going to seriously consider switching to linux and ditching one of the simpler and easier to work with OS's which do the things we/they need them to do without hassles.

It's actually a myth that Linux users are all stuck-up elitists who tell you to "RTFM". BTW:http://www.linuxquestions.org/THE new user help center for all things FOSS.

@hosiah I thought I was clear, but apparently I wasn't. The windows application is legacy. If I were "still" a Windows developer I wouldn't care much about using Linux as my primary OS now would I? To set the record straight, I am a J2EE guy, and Linux would be my 1st choice if I could easily support VB6 apps in it. (don't care much for virtualization or dual boot solutions).I just wish I were an EX-windows user. really :)

this is great news but Transgaming (Cedega) has been doing this now for well over a year.http://www.transgaming.com

The title should be "Bigger better CrossOver adds Counterstrike to Linux, with support for other 'stream-based' games such as World of Warcraft."Counterstrike is Way Better than WoW

I might consider linux now, that was my biggest complaint.

Yeah, I still maintain my transgaming subscription, but I'm not sure why.... the games I wanted to play under Linux were old when I subscribed in like 2002, not a single one worked (but I kept my subscription to support them) and now the only Windows games I care about are casual gaming type things that I download.... popcap games, Hamsterball, things like that. And when it comes to those games, I've had the best luck with plain ol' Wine, followed by Crossover Office, with Cedega in dead last.
