fff.org — The more powerful government becomes, the more abuses it commits and the more lies it must tell. Interventions beget debacles that require cover-ups and denials. The more the government screws up, the more evidence the government is obliged to bury or deny. The government becomes addicted to the growth of its own revenue and power ?

"The more powerful government becomes, the more abuses it commits..."This is somewhat correct, but I think the point would be better illustrated if the article had referred to "members of government" and not simply government. People are corrupt, and support corrupt activities, but the system itself can't be corrupt in a democracy unless it is impossible to get fired/replaced (like the election going on right now). This is what I tell my boss: "There's no such thing as a stupid computer, only a stupid user" (that doesn't go over too well when he wants computer help though!).

@melodramaticThere is no system without people. Treating a system or government as if it is or could be anything other than a collection of individuals with badges is silly. If people are corrupt then by definition any system composed of people will also be corrupt.
