Many things are far better than Apple TV, its yet another easy to use, dumbed down, nice looking waste of money. (typical apple stuff) My $50 DVD player plays Xvid/Divx and I can use my $30 2GB USB stick with it as well. Same functionality for $80...
Purchased a Neuros OSD this past Christmas. It's certainly come a very long way since then with the most current firmware release. Pretty cool to see the development process in play.....whereas the AppleTV is just one big black box.
My Original Xbox with XBMC is way better than the apple tv, It plays everything, I can also have youtube on it(way before the apple tv), and the interface is customize-able.Great to see that the open source community are going up against the big companies that are saying that it's a first to have youtube on your tv, but we all know it isnt, it has been on the open source community for quite some time.
Well, actually.. That's precisely the point of an AppleTV or a Neuros - to be able to watch stuff wirelessly from your PC on an LCD, without a large, ugly computer in your living room.
One big difference between the Neuros OSD, the Apple TV and the Xbox, is the recording feature on the OSD. The unit makes mpeg4 files in real-time out of any analog video output with RCA. Why RCA? It is the most widely available connection on CE devices out there (from TV, SD or HD, to camcorders or video game consoles). As described in the product description that means one can record live TV from a cable box, make copies of DVDs, digitize home movies or record video game sequences for playback on devices compatible with MPEG4 files. The bigger story from this article is the ability that consumers have to customize and improve the product thanks to the open source platform. Great things were done with XBMC since its launch, let's see what the open source community will do with the Neuros OSD.

Anyone have a video of how it records data? All I can find is you tube. What about more important features?
