That's because Linux's victory won't be on the traditional desktop. Its already arrived on the desktop for those that want to use it. No, Linux will be on the mobile phones, internet handhelds, low power consumption computers, refridgerators, toasters, and set top devices. 80% of people will likely still have Windows on their desktop computer, but its highly likely that by the end of 2008, that same 80% of people will have linux running on at least one device they own, whether they know it or not.
