lostreview.com — Take the time to read it, it's worth it. "The island is largely black rock - a naturally occurring magnetic mineral. It has the uncanny property of storing electromagnetic currents - like a big magnetic tape. Magnus Hanso - grandfather of Alvar Hanso and venture capitalist - captained his ship The Black Rock to the island in the nineteenth century"

Even though we didn't see much of the helicopter crash, when I saw that scene it somehow looked like the helicopter crashed into something, like a forcefield? What do you guys think? Great discussion here btw...

Wow, unadulterated pap. Most of it is pure speculation and then the other part is completely made up. Give 1000 monkeys 1000 typewriters, and you will get something just as interesting eventually. I'll stick with the real story, and if this happens to be true... wow, Lost would REALLY suck and I would hate myself for wasting my time with it.

@robdiggity,Hanso, four giant toes?!!! Are you serious? Who gives a rats ass about this stuff? I'm talking about the overarching metaphor for the show, not the red herring 101 subplots meant to bamboozle the mentally micro.People (including myself) figured this whole thing out during the pilot. Big whoop. So what?! Why does the (clearly self-serving and contractually mandatory) denial by the writing team carry so much weight with you? Would you expect them to legally be able to say anything EXCEPT "no, that's not it, we promise!". Sheesh. Get over it. The writers of LOST are not experts is ANY fields of science, cryptography, etc. They are JUST TV writers. You, and your ilk, have so overcomplicated things that you missed the big, simple, easy to grasp metaphor behind it all. It's not all that hard. The only one exhibiting denial is you. If you want me to actually answer any questions about things from the show and how they support my solution, just ask (sans insults), and I'll be glad to do it. Others have done so (look further down in the thread) and I've answered them. Instead of being infantile and hyper-defensive, why don't you throw down a gauntlet or two from the show and see if I can't provide a satisfactory solution? I'm here. See if you can stump me.

@robdiggity,You keep talking about the "rest of us" as if you are speaking an opinion of more than one...yourself. You've now spent pages of text just to say "yours isn't the solution" without offering anything to challenge my overall theory/argument or support yours (whatever that is, since you've never said).I repeat my challenge, ask me anything about the show's major plot points and characters, and I will show you how it fits into the obvious purgatory solution. If I can't, then this theory fails by the application of the scientific method. So, now regarding your comment about "Michael and Walt leaving the island": We have no confirmation that they actually successfully ESCAPED the island, do we? We saw them head off in a boat...on the great oceanic River Styx, so to speak. They might only have gotten only as far as the second island (or a third), or might have been blown/crippled right on back onto the island for us to see again here in the next few episodes, etc. They might be circling it endlessly, or holed up in another hatch/complex we haven't seen yet, etc. We just don't know yet. So this is unfortunately an insufficient data to draw a firm conclusion for or against ANY hypothesis/scenario, not just mine. Regardless of not knowing where they are right now, we have been told that the universe has a way of course correcting, and I do have a theory that fits the facts to date. Therefore, we can make some PREDICTIONS. I maintain that this "course correcting" means that ultimately the just are rewarded/redeemed, while the corrupt are ultimately punished. Witness the islands "hunting down" of Charlie right now as an example of this. Now, since Walt seems to be an innocent, but his dad clearly no longer is, my guess is that Michael will die (by the end of the show, probably by sacrificing his eternity/life to save his son) but Walt may be granted (by the powers that be) a second chance at life (thanks to his father's sacrifice). If Walt dies too, he'll go to a better place, but I'm banking on the more dramatic resolution here. I doubt Michael's sacrifice to give Walt his second chance overrides the evil Michael has done, so my guess is that the island/ocean will claim Michael but hopefully spare Walt. So, there you go, I'm now using my hypothesis to actually PREDICT what will happen on the show. Let's see if I'm right. :)Next...

Please, I'm the only one? Your original post is -3. You likely were glassy eyed? Or bloodshot?http://digg.com/television/Best_LOST_Theory#c6650133http://digg.com/television/Best_LOST_Theory#c6650240http://digg.com/television/Best_LOST_Theory#c6662231http://digg.com/television/Best_LOST_Theory#c6650462It is clear you are an irrational zealot. It was fun to engage you, but now it's sad. Your dismissal of the writers & producers is irrational and beyond reaching. Is it your position that television shows historically succeed when writers and producers lie? That there is no better way to promote a program than by alienating its fan base? Brilliant. Do you work in tee vee?You see that your explanation of Michael/Walt is a bunch of nonsense speculation, right? It is clear that you first thought "Oh s**t" when you read that question, and then scrambled to compose a collection of flimsy straw men. Good work. You continue to put sour cream, garlic, chives and bacon bits on your potatoes, but you still continue to miss the rest of the meal. You have not yet sampled the main course. Why? Why do you want to remain in 2004? Why do you want the fantasy theme to be causal? Mmmmmmmmmm bacon bits.... ooohohohohohohoohohooh.......Oh, and Toto was a terrible band.
