usatoday.com — The behavior of the pilots in last year's crash that killed 50 people has become an all-too-familiar response when airliners go out of control. Over and over again, startled pilots mishandle stalls, icing and other emergencies. The way airline training simulators portray stalls now is so benign it gives the pilot a false impression of reality.

Fully agree the pilots' starting pay is horrible. However, this is simple supply and demand at work. Way too many qualified pilots are willing to work at the low rate. This was an issue long before the current crisis hit, reducing demand further. When it comes to rest times, however, those should be regulated in the interest of safety. Also, work time spent on the ground should count as well for payment purposes, not just flying time.

Hurricane, used to be a crew scheduler for a regional airline back in the 90's. A starting pilot made $19 an hour sitting on reserve (meaning waiting at home to be called for an assignment) and was guaranteed 72 hours month, even if they didn't fly 72 hours. They made $200 more than me and they were pilots! Being a new pilot is a grueling task.

Actually, the plane was going slower than it should be, not fast. And when the plane started to stall the pilot wasn't just behind the curve, but actually pulled up instead of pushing forward and even pulled back even harder to counter the automatic stick pusher (which counters stalls by lowering the nose).'It concluded that the cause of the accident was pilot error. The pilot had used excessive force on the control column when a stick shaker activated in moderate icing conditions due to the aircraft being flown some 20 knots (37 km/h) too slow for the conditions.'By fast stall, are you referring to this?'The actions of the pilot led to the aircraft entering an accelerated stall.'Anyway, this is all from wikipedia.
