Sorry for being racist I am Chinese..."Poverty found in the US inst bearfoot children living in huts right next to huge buildings that will be destroyed by a quake in a few months." You're absolutely right and I also think you shouldn't give the Chinese so much credit on that one. Barefoot... (sounds so sad) but hey at least you said they are living in a hut? You could have found a better example of people living in poverty aka with no shelter etc. I think the only general difference you can find among the two countries as far as poverty is the sheer number of poor people. Well, at least the populations of the two countries is relatively similar.Back on the incredibly tragic dog eating issue. I mean I was merely pointing out my own personal experience when I visited China. But honestly who cares? If it's a cultural thing to eat dogs then so be it. The article you just linked what is it supposed to tell us? China is accommodating western culture but ignoring Indians and Muslims? PETA is taking a giant attack on the dog issue and will one day attack the issue on other meats?
Except the U.S. is a (mostly) free country. If you're poor here it's (mostly) your own fault.Yes there are exceptions but in our (mostly) free economy you can make something of yourself with hardwork. We don't have a class based system or communism which tells you what you can and can't do.We are mostly the rewards of our own hard work, where as in China, if you work hard, that money can be taken from you unjustly.
I don't know why but I found that absolutely hilarious... which considering my mood after reading this thread and seeing the picture is great and I thank you kind sir.

yeah, i figured that had to be it. the real surprising part of this, though, is that i decided to take that comment down while the 5-minute window was still open because i decided that it wasn't accurate. that means you just happened to be perusing the comments during the 4 minutes that that comment was up. well how 'bout that.

Then how come 86% of Chinese are optimistic about their future while only 23% Americans feel the same way?http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/07/22/asia/poll.p ...
