GH3 was nothing amazing compared to 1, 2, and 80s. Especially with Rock Band taking the "full band experience" and online content crown. However, GH4 looks to be a formidable response, particularly for Wii owners. In other words, this game is going to blast your ass out of the universe. You'll see.

I'm looking forward to GH4 mostly because I've already got a GH controller... and I don't care about the other instruments. If someone else in my household wants to play the drums or something, they can put out the money for them. There's also the fact that the only console I own right now (current generation at least) is a Wii, and it's not worth it to wait until I get a 360 for a game where graphics don't make even the slightest difference.

I'd like to see both of them work out a deal with a third party to make peripherals. Compatible with both games, and both sides will see a share of the profit.Honestly, I'd be more inclined to buy both if they had compatible instruments. They might get less money from me that way, but at least they get some. I think that's the biggest advantage the 360 has regarding these music games.

Likewise, I've got the guitar already so I'm happy. I don't have the space in my apartment for a ton of instruments for a game.
