I really hope this passes, but the archaic, small-minded, scared of change mindset that has plagued American government for the past hundred years is going to need a s**tload of uproar from us, the people, to make it happen.
(Post continued)It is wrong to class me and the grandma down the street as a criminal, who chooses natural herbs over man made chemicals, to use in treating a disease. And an herb that for thousands of years, up to the 1930's, was used by doctors as one of their main medicines of choice in their bag. (For overwhelming proof of this statement, visit here: http://www.antiquecannabisbook.com)Yes, this vote HAS come up before, like some have stated, it seems it does so every 2 years or so. I'm glad it does, as it means that many of us, who smoke Cannabis and DON'T waste our lives away on a couch, are actually getting things done and ARE involved, I know I am and have been for a number of years. Each time it comes up for vote in Congress, the votes counted in favor of decriminalizing Cannabis gets higher and higher (no pun intended.) With any luck and hope, justice for the persecuted sick will finally stop. Let's hope this time it passes, though i don't hold much hope that it will pass with the Bush admin running things.Smoke alot of Cannabis in one go and the worst that can happen to you is a "whitey", where you go white, throw up, drink some orange juice, giving it 90 mins, and then feel fine again OR simply falling asleep on the sofa, waking up refreshed and without any ill effects like a hangover, HOWEVER, drink alot of alcohol in one go and the worst that can happen to you is you could DIE from alcoholic poisoning, (and many HAVE.) Now THAT (alcohol) IS poison, contrary to Cannabis.Think for yourselves people and stop being sheep. You were given a brain, use it! This is NOT rocket science here, its simply common sense.
just put the bong down for long enough to find out who your representative is and e-mail them. it will require HUGE amounts of public pressure to change these failed policies.

I agree mate. It just doesn't make any sense at all, but then hardly anything the governments ever does 'makes sense', except in £'s or $'s into some special interest pocket, which I'm quite sure has been and still is the case with Cannabis. Big Oil company and other industries's own 'lives' depend on Cannabis being kept in the criminalized state it currently is in. Sad state of affairs that their interests out weigh patients need for it's use, and not only that, but not allowing it to be the number 1 fuel on the planet for transportation, number 1 material used to make paper, houses, cars even, shoes (which I own), awesome jackets, which I own and love to death, it just has soooooooooo many uses! Its crazy that we are not using it and saving our planet, not just our sick people.
