I predicted this when I was in 8th grade in 1983, and for once I can actually document it. Not the USB part, just the "bands releasing music on a chip on a stick" part. If only my junior high school had had a patent class!
This is mostly geared towards hardcore fans. If I wasn't a serious BNL fan, I'd be happy with the CD release, but as a BNL nut, I'll be picking this up when I see them in concert next month. For the rest of you, ignore this release; it's not for you.For those of you complaining about it being a lossy format, they sell all their recent stuff (since going independent) in various formats: CDs, mp3s, flac (lossless), and of course wma/aac on the "real" online stores. And with the exception of the iTunes-type stuff, it's all DRM-free.
I just went to their concert in London, Ontario and I bought The 'Barenaked On A Stick' Thumb Drive. The songs are in compressed MP3 format with no DRM as far as I can tell. The 'Barenaked For The Holidays' tracks are in 128kbps Joint Stereo and the live tracks are in 112kbps Joint Stereo. Hardly amazing quality. This 'album' came out last year, save for the live content, so there is really nothing new here except some videos, some buddy icons, pics and a demo of a new track to be put on the new album. Because I already have this album and ripped it in 320Kbps Stereo I won't be using the tracks that came on the stick. It's still cool to have as a Die-Hard BNL fan - oh and the show was really cool!Next its Neverending White Lights

"I dugg this, because I love BNL. What I don't love is the misspelling of their name."Don't be ignorant: <a class="user" href="http://www.bnlmusic.com/">http://www.bnlmusic.com/</a>

Do they want people to pirate their music?

I'd love to see their website sell the content directly; I already have two USB drives. They sell their live shows (<a class="user" href="http://www.werkshop.com/bnllive)">http://www.werkshop.com/bnllive)</a> with a choice of FLAC and MP3. An Option to buy it as a CD, zip file, USB Drive, SD card, etc would be cool.
