It's just one atrocity that was told to him from a villager, that's all he presented it as. and even if you don't believe that part, or think it might be an exaggeration, that doesn't change all the other facts he's reported. Including the other atrocities al qaeda has perpetrated. Yon's been in Iraq and Afghanistan more than some soldiers have, read some of his dispatches, get a totally first hand account.
I liked Michael Yon early on, but I soon found his posts to be overwritten and melodramatic. I think it's clear he's not a journalist-- he doesn't report the facts, just the facts. He definitely skews things towards his agenda so I question his objectivity, which I suppose is easy to lose while being embedded 24/7 with the troops.
Well this is all good and well, but will this really last? Will it return to business as usual in Baqubah as soon as we leave? Won't the death and killing just move to other parts of Iraq? From what I understand, it's like playing whack-a-mole. You kill a bunch of terrorists in one place, and they pop up somewhere else, or come back when you leave.
Way to miss the entire point of his writings. Seriously, did you even RTFA. How much more clearly could he have stated that "We" do not want to be there any longer than necessary.
I wouldnt say something better. The americans are viewed as just another group fighting for influence and control. They arent the rulers or in charge, they are clawing their way up, just like Al Q et al.

Interesting, I hardly ever see stuff like this in the main outlets.
