house.gov — Decisions that affect millions of Americans are not being made by those Americans themselves, or even by their elected representatives in Congress. Instead, a handful of elites use their government connections to bypass national legislatures & ignore our Constitution, which expressly grants Congress the sole authority to regulate int'l trade.

"Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; To borrow money on the credit of the United States; To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes.... "Just where does it say that Congress has the SOLE authority to regulate commerce?

Actually under NAFTA there aren't many tariffs, what you are paying is the brokerage...the service charge associated with customs. Taxes and brokerage have mostly made up for any initial decreases today....the average person doesn't benefit from NAFTA.

I'd never heard of the Trans-Texas Corridor or the SPP, so I went and read up on them. Looks like there are perfectly sane arguments against the TTC.So what's up with this North American Union, threat-to-sovereigny conspiracy theory bulls**t? You might as well throw in the Bilderbergers, New World Order references, some black helicopters, and secret UN invasion plans. Buried as lame, because there's no option to bury as paranoid delusion.

@there"When various independent states became the US was Washington a dictator?"No that didn't happen until some of the states decided that they wanted out of the union. Although they were supposedly allowed to leave if they wished they found out otherwise. What happens in your world government if and when some countries/states decide they would be better off being independent? The answer is obvious to me. The same thing will happen whenever states/provinces try to seperate (with a few exceptions) war.I know this is late but I hope you answer.

god damn it, this section here has many disputes. First of all, the commerce clause. What does the constitution mean by "commerce?" Does it mean all forms of commerce? What did the writers intend that on meaning? That congress can regulate all trade? Obviously, I don't think they wanted that, or they would be going for the same system britian had. And that would contradict everything they fought for, so that isn't it. Thomas woods gives a great lecture on it....it's just that I have to really sit down and listen to it. So I'll get back on it when I listen to it.

What I do not find surprising at all is that all of the supporters of amnesty for illegals and a curbing of the crackdown of what is know becoming known as the Border Wars, are the same people who are balls to the wall, full tilt for this new infringement on American Security. And of course, all in the name of "globalization" and "trade".The poor will stay poor and our national security will suffer. The rich will get richer. Don't see upside to this one.Unlike popular opinion..there ARE Conservatives who support a quasi isolationist policy.

well, it was forced down the EU's throat, so it *can* be forced. But I think that it would be overall beneficial to everyone involved. And it would help guarantee the sovereignty of the nations involved, because together we'd stand better against any other super states. Having lived in canada for several years now, our own system of states is mostly superior to their provincial system, as it grants enough local independence while still maintaining the right amount of federal power.

Yes. I think if an NAU is to be on the table, it should start as simple economic connections. Expand NAFTA. Then, connected security and defense administrations.I've always felt that our Nation would have been far better served by deploying our forces into Mexico to assist them against their organized crime problems than invading Iraq and Afghanistan. The masses of money we poured into that desert could have gone into uplifting our neighbors so that they wouldn't have to sneak across our borders to make money. If we got their economy going as well as Canada, all of us would be better off.

well, we can do a nice strategic sim for the international warfare. Then a good tactical sim ala company of heroes for the ground engagements. Maybe a good naval sim, a few air sims.Plus lots of commando FPSs.Can you imagine the awesome movies?I really think we need to get the UK and Ireland on our side though, we can't let the EU have their awesome scottish and irish accents.
