First, it was coming in for a landing very low to the ground at a slower speed and not going 700+ mph on an intentional direction into a hard, flat surface. Second, it was not full of thousands and thousands of gallons of fuel. Third, I'm sure these things are built a bit sturdier than your average jet liner. They're built for war and probably hold together a *tad* bit better. Just saying.Oh yeah, and you're an idiot.
A grandmother, a mother and two children died. Very, very sad. Tragic. It appears that both engines on F-18 malfunctioned. One would assume that the pilot had done everything possible to steer the plane away from the residential area before ejecting. However, according to news one of the engines had died during the training, over the ocean. So it still had one engine running which in theory is enough for pilot to get the plane landed. I don't understand why they let him fly with one engine above residential area?! Shouldn't he be directed via safer route or advised to eject above non-residential area especially as he was lieutenant, meaning less experienced pilot? http://www.sandiego6.com/media/news/d/0/c/d0c5ff79 ...
