utteroutrage.blogspot.com — You may remember the recent Digg story about a study "proving" that Marijuana use can cause schizophrenia. You may also remember the hundreds of people screaming "bulls**t!" on the discussion page. Guess who was right?

Thank you for that. When I drink too much caffeine I get agitated and feel like I'm having an anxiety attack. By the logic being used to keep weed illegal we should outlaw coffee & cola drinks. People who lose their s**t after taking drugs would've lost their s**t anyway.

@ dildooreillysuch tragedies really make us question our morals don't they? when such bright, promising, kids have to endure such horrifying times...i'm at a loss for words. at least he didn't get bloodshot eyes, we can say.. he was one of the lucky ones.

No kidding. The "pot was laced" argument is almost always an urban legend. Unless you have a habit of entertaining some really random company and literally smoking anything that passes within reach of your mouth, you should always know where your bud has come from. A lot dealers pride themselves on knowing the exact strain and genetic history of their particular "flavour". When I wound up in the hospital after an extreme reaction, my friends freaked out because of all the white "dust" on the bud which they thought must be some kind of crystal. Nevermind that they all smoked it too and were fine. Of course, most of you reading this will know that the "dust" was just visible THC crystals on really potent chronic. I know for a fact it wasn't laced because the hospital took blood samples specifically to check... They almost laughed when they said it was just straight pot - which goes to show that my bad reaction was something due to my own brain, not a "laced" thing.

#1: "Whether you think it "should" be or not doesn't matter."Yes it does matter, and you have no right to say it doesn't. If it didn't matter then what would happen to our society? It would become totalitarian.#2: "Weed is taboo." To answer your question, no it does not matter to me. See #1#3: "Weed is not regulated." To answer your question, no it does not matter to me. See #1#4: Have you ever thought that maybe it actually HELPS some people in "engaging in meaningful activity, or setting and accomplishing life goals. Does this matter to you? " Yes it does matter.#5 I don't know what planet you live on, but in most of America it can be neither cheap nor easy to get. See #1#6: "Smoking is an identity." Pfft whatever, similar people will do things they have in common. Nothing wrong with that.#7: "Smoking weed automatically makes you a "user" in part of a "drug scene"." To answer your question, no it does not matter to me. See #1#8: Weed is psychoactive.Of course this matters to me. Do you think I would do any random drug anybody gives to me? No, I would not. In fact weed is the only illegal drug I've ever done in any real amount. This is the only valid point you have here, imo#9This is simply incorrect, unless you have an addictive personality. I do not.

"It was years before I even started questioning whether anything was wrong with me, even as my life was falling apart around me"There's your problem right there. You may be smoking but that doesn't mean you should stop thinking.

Study debunked? Because some guy on a blog says so? Hahahahahahaha. I'm sure the blogger is a real scientist.

the only people who post bulls**t like this have an agenda or are too stupid to acknowledge the blatant hypocrisy. please, get cancer. .. and make sure you don't smoke any grass to ease the pain, c**k. pot has LEGITIMATELY been linked to reducing cancer rates and is wonderful for many other medicinal (and industrial) purposes. what the f**k does precious alcohol do for anyone? you people argue like creationists and make me sick.

it's that you suggest this is a very common thing that is misleading. i don't know what county you live in.. but people take pride in their buds in california, here. also, i've seen people get arrested and then have the police lie their asses off to make the lil bit of pot they found seem more significant. like saying you "manufacture hash" and nonsense like that. unfortunately, no recourse for the little guy. so f**k that nonsense. you're talking about tweakers who happen to smoke, nothing more.

y'know. the people i've known who have spent some real time as addicts or junkies always end up saying the same thing: they had to quit drinking or they couldn't kick the coke/heroin. they start with a little boozin' and then go runnin' to find an 8 ball. your gateway argument is worthless.>>#1: Weed is illegal.>>Whether you think it "should" be or not doesn't matter.it absolutely does. if people didn't put the ridiculous stigma on it there would be little difference between smoking a joint or hittin' a cigarette. y'know, somewhat like amsterdam?>> If you chose to do something which your society has deemed illegal, you have just justified breaking >>the law.****s****rs who know nothing run s**t and try to control my life based on lies and deceit. f**k your law. i adhere to universal laws.>>Many studies have demonstrated that those who break a vow, law or promise once are far more likely >>to break it again in other ways. Does this matter to you? Hmm...this is just retarded and i hope people don't actually acknowledge you. apparently you are a proponent for victimless crimes. that being said, please get cancer.>>#2: Weed is taboo.>>Whatever the reason, by smoking weed you are getting a kick out of doing something society has >>deemed "bad". Therefore, you are learning to hide certain behaviour, because you know some people >>do not approve. Does this matter to you?only in that religious f**ktards and conservative idiots think they know how to run my life better than i do. and y'all wonder why people get murdered. hah.>>#3: Weed is not regulated.>>Unlike Coke or coffee or even alcohol, there are no quality standards established to protect your >>health. You are learning to trust your health some very questionable sources. Does this matter to you?sure. if people would stop trying to control everyone else's life you'd get standards made. imagine that. kind of like booze, eh?>>#4: Getting high is fun!>>Therefore, you are learning to find enjoyment, pleasure, excitement, mood enhancement through >>chemistry - instead of through, say, developing positive human relationships, engaging in meaningful >>activity, or setting and accomplishing life goals. Does this matter to you?you ever heard of a neural peptide? ALL of that is chemical based. any emotion you have is a chemical reaction. some people get addicted to love or sex. some people to exercise. stfu with this.>>#5: Weed is cheap and easy.>>Bored on a Saturday night? Or a Wednesday night? Or a Monday morning? No problem! Weed makes it >>easy to make life more "interesting" instantly, without having to invest any lasting effort in improving >>one's situation. Does this matter to you?your "does this matter" bulls**t has already gotten on my nerves. does it matter to YOU that people suffer because the conservative i-think-i'm-right wishes to lock down anything remotely good for the world? of course not. you ARE a cancer.>>#6: Smoking is an identity.>>You instantly have something in common with other users. You bond with other pot smokers solely >>based on their drug use.aaaaahahahahaaha. you know NOT.>>#7: Smoking weed automatically makes you a "user" in part of a "drug scene".like booze or pills or even gambling. hooray.>>#8: Weed is psychoactive.what isn't?>>#9: For every high you experience, the next one will be a little less interesting unless you up the ante.you are an assuming piece of s**t, really. hope you come to grips with that some day.

See, here's the thing.I can't remember Yale ever getting funded by big pharma for any of their studies. That's why I'm wondering where all of this "they've been paid off" crap is coming from. Can someone give me a reliable link to proof that Yale was paid off for this study? Please?edit: wait a s**t. If big pharma is paying for studies proving that pot is correlated with schizo, isn't that completely counterproductive? Wouldn't the idea be to hide that correlation so that more people end up needing anti-psychotic meds down the line?

I know that was propaganda and I am not surprised either. However, although marijuana is safe it is not foolproof. The main problem with the plant isn't the plant itself, but the obsession 'stoner types' have with getting high. I made the mistake of underestimating my wife and in laws, who get high every single day, before I married into the family. I thought that responsibility was an instant they possessed and they didn't revolve their life around it. I was wrong. They do it around my step kids and my wife went as far as leaving me in a different state while I was in the military to return to where her family was at, so she could get high. I never thought I would be jealous of a stupid plant, but I was. I think there is more of a psychological addiction to it than meets the eye (maybe an underlying ad hoc dependency). I used it myself, and I actually think it is overrated, especially when you do it too much. To me it makes me feel and look stupid, and unable to think clearly. Sure maybe it is fun for a recreational thing, but if you revolve your life around it, to me that is a problem. IIt should be legal yes, but with it comes responsibility and balance, with stoners, I don't see it 9 times out of 10.
