@PhotoblogKennedy and Johnson fabricated a war in Viet Nam that lasted ten years, cost over 50,000 American lives and an untold number of Vietnamese lives. Where's your righteous indignation for that? Or are you indignant only when a Republican is in office when a war begins?
@ NoStoppingUs "show me one thing the UN has done in the last 10 years." -Ooh, let's say, *ending apartheid in South Africa*. You can say thanks anytime."...show me one person in there besides bolton who is standing up to NK and Iran, as well as trying to rid the UN of corruption."- Oh, please. Anyone other than Bolton did a better job. Bolton criticised NK's human rights openly, leading to them refusing to discuss anything with him. This was a MAJOR factor in the failure to stop their weapons program. Translation if you are too stupid: without Bolton in there, we may have stopped NK from getting the bomb. Now, I don't want to get in the way of your drinking up all that right wing koolaid bulls**t, but if you pulled your head out of the sand for a moment, you'd realise that the UN has done a lot of good in this world. A cursory glance thru history over the last 30 years might help.Yes, of course it is rife with bureaucracy & corrupt members, but it's the best thing we have right now towards preventing wars before they happen and enforcing human rights laws across the planet. Fat lot of good the Bush Administration has done for world peace or human rights.
What a failure the bush administration has been? Let us be honest here. It’s more like "What a failure our government has been." Everyone is so caught up on party lines that it blinds them to the fact that there are many retards running the show. This is includes the Clinton years for all the libs out there. Whether you liked Bolton or not he had any chance. What is a man going to do in the few months he had? Every ambassador (especially the corrupt ones) knew he was going to leave and could just "minimize" their corrupt practices while he was there. . The United Nations has definitely gone the way of the League of Nations i.e. useless . . . flaccid even.We do need someone with strength and morals to represent us at the U.N. Bolton was a move in the right direction but apparently not the answer. We need someone who knows the right time to be an assh**e, not just an assh**e all of the time. A liberal (notice I did not say democrat) is not the answer. To damn afraid of hurting peoples feelings.bbarr97
OK, you're crazy. It was 1994 when they had their first free elections, not 1976. So that's close enough to 10 years (I don't know whose ass you're pulling the 1976 figure, since apartheid was still in action long beyond a decade after that). And if ending apartheid in SA isn't good enough of an action by the UN out of its whole existance for you, then you really *are* a f**king right wing loon. Neverthelesss, there are countless, countless other actions which, without the UN, would have put many nations up s**t creek without a paddle. Just read those big, heavy papery things with pages called "history books". You might learn something.Oh yeah, that other thing.. it was a company upon whose board Donald Rumsfeld sat that gave NK the technology & materiel to make a nuclear reactor, in 2000. So don't come at me with that whiny right-wing mating cry of "h1m better th@n CLINTONNNNN!" bulls**t. You know, you can't blame that assh**e for everything, he's been out of power for quite some time, you're gonna have to come up with a new scapegoat sooner or later. Dumbass. But if you want to play the blame game, the US wasn't responsible for NK getting a nuclear bomb at all. It was Pakistan. The US agreement was that they could have a light water reactor (which can't produce weapons material) as long as they didn't try to develop a bomb. You're an ignoramus. Just like all right-wing nutjobs.
My Daddy's progressive party was not weak and fought the good fights. I do not think the Democrats are weak but I do think liberals are weak and just out of touch with reality. It might help liberals if Hollywood "celebrities" shut their mouth. What right do any of those guys/gals have to speak about the world when he/she dates supermodels, have personal car washers, and pay other people to take care of their kids. They haven't a clue what the average American wants or cares about. The Constitution is there for them but when it comes to politics they are . . . special.
I don't know that I agree with the comment "Israel is a peaceful nation" but the way I see it at least they believe in the free market (unlike a lot of other socialist leaning middle eastern states), and that's got to be worth protecting.
