thinkprogress.org — “World Bank officials say the bank’s board is completing an ‘exit strategy’ that will allow World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz to resign this afternoon and ’still save some face’ over the issue of his efforts to seek a promotion and pay raise for his girlfriend at the bank.”

My hatred for Wolfowitz and my desire to see him resign from the World Bank in disgrace has nothing to do with either Bush or Cheney. It stems from the so-called "Wolfowitz Doctrine" which is in part responsible for our pre-emptive war in Iraq. I have no doubt that he would use his position at the World Bank to further his own corporate interests and spread "free trade" worldwide while crushing the world's poor indigenous peoples, but since that is basically the purpose of the World Bank, I don't forsee his resignation changing anything. I do wish him personal harm and shame, due to the harm he has caused my country, but this has absolutely nothing to do with so-called "knee-jerk Bush bashing" of which you are accusing people in this discussion.

"I find it funny that it took this long for him to resign, most respectable businesses would fire you for hiring and giving your girlfriend a raise let alone if you're head of the world bank..."True although since when was the World Bank a respectable business? Developing countries would be a hundred times better off if it had never existed.

Wolfowitz didn't seem so concerned about exit strategies when he was Deputy Secretary of Defense.

Buried as inaccurate: It's Think Progress, not ABC in this case. If you're going to claim ABC is reporting something, LINK DIRECTLY TO THE ABC ARTICLE! Don't link-through some other blog someplace else. We don't care. Give us the f**king article!
