cnn.com — CNN News: A Florida scientist has developed a "brain" in a glass dish that is capable of flying a virtual fighter plane and could enhance medical understanding of neural disorders such as epilepsy...The "living computer" was grown from 25,000 neurons extracted from a rat's brain and arranged over a grid of 60 electrodes in a Petri dish

I"m wondering the same. How are they conditioning the brain and how can it live on it's own? What about blood supply? Oxygen? Nourishment? It's toxicity level? How can it live without body parts? Anyone else find this creepy? How long before it's our brain being a valuable commodity for a biobot?Questions to ponder.....

If a guy grew a rat's brain in a petri dish and then taught it how to fly a flight simulator....does it really matter how it does it? I'm pretty sure that the brain isn't sentient and does not actually know it is playing a simulation of a real airplane which we use to fight in wars that is actually flown by a human with a body.

There is a story about us all being "brains in vats". The theory is that our whole consciousness takes place in vats and that we have no way of knowing that that is all we are. Scientists are busy prodding our brains into this reality that we experience. Imagine if you will, that you were this rat's brain flying the airplane. Would your experience be just like our experience is on a daily basis? Fascinating stuff if you think about it....

Here's some news for ya! I got a brain! It's not of much use, and certainly can't play some fancy flight sim, but it wrote this dribble. Amazed?
