chemicallygreen.com — British Petroleum has a long record of bold claims and clever slogans. Far to many have proven to be incredibly ironic. BP also has another history, one we are reminded of now more than ever, one they pay to dollar to cover up. A history of accidents and incidents of epicproportions.

Ever since they tried to change the image of their company, pretending to be environmentally sensitive, BP has gone to s**t. Just looking at their recent safety record, they were due a disaster. Was only a matter of time with such negligence.

That would be oilboading them.

Bulls**t, without the power, politicians would not be able to deliver anything, Whether or not they are corruptible wouldn't matter.

I don't even know what you're recommending. Direct democracy? How are you going to have politicians without the power to make decisions? And if the politicians aren't the ones collectively deciding on things like how much arsenic is safe to have in ground water, how to handle externalities like the smell from a paper plant or the smoke from a factory, or how to regulate risky industries like oil exploration, pharmaceuticals manufacturing, or financial derivative trading, who would be deciding, and how would you expect them to make those decisions?I'm not trying to be a jerk or call you out, I just honestly don't know what you're arguing for.

Then I don't follow1) why a libertarian government or politician would be any less prone to campaign contributions influencing their decisions2) why you think decisions about how to handle externalities don't have to be made (even deciding to ignore them is a decision -- perhaps one with serious ramifications as we see with the BP spill)
