@kotton:i guess so, eh? now shut the f**k up. really, what does it matter which story hits the front page? i'm *SO* tired of seeing bulls**t comments of this sort at the top of EVERY story. lots of dupes are submitted, only one (or two) make it to the front page. GET OVER IT.BMW's reasons for not putting their name on it actually are quite a bit about "a name" -- the cooper mini. The mini's legendary and they chose to preserve the brand name. Also, I certainly hope you weren't implying that BMW is merely "a name" -- they've made durable, well-balanced, fun-to-drive cars for a long time, even before they were popular with yuppies.
Ah come on people. Are the folks at WIN not allowed to have shared interests? OK, it's bad that such things _may_ be happening, but it happens with others too - I know people who spam their contacts thru IM to get them to digg their own things and submissions. Why aren't people taking note of that too? Or is it that Digg fanboys have something else that they want to say against Calacanis?
uh, the throttle is drive by wire. The steering, brakes and other systems are the standard mechanical methods. The only unique part of the steering is the the hydraulic assist is driven by an electric motor instead of the traditional mechanical belts off the serpentine belt.
You've obviously never driven a MINI, palmer. I have an '02, and it handles like no other car I've ever driven in my life. It grips the road like a true go-kart, and you can't tell me otherwise unless you drive one yourself. The incredible G-forces you feel going around corners as you romp on that little guy's accelerator can only be felt when you get in the range of the $80K Porches. On a side note, being an '02 Cooper S owner, the new models are COMPLETELY different if you ask me. The two biggest disappointments are that they changed the hood and made it 'bubblier' and that they exchanged the ever-customizable supercharger-based engine for the harder-to-tune turbocharger-based one.

The first hint you would have that they are a BMW product:you buy them from a BMW Dealer
