soos.cc — "The HHR Chopper is a recreation vehicle for private use. It presents a new way of flying a helicopter with getting away from the typical shape, with changing the seating position to a more lounge- and sportscar-like feel, with having a great view by being surrounded just by glass, with giving the feeling of a little bit luxury."

It's a fun idea, but for it to come anywhere near production status, especially as described, it would have to use a gas-turbine engine (to lift the weight of 'luxury' and extravagant soundproofing) and incorporate some automatic safety features that are as-of-yet undeveloped (like automatic flight control system-controlled autorotations). This would deliver a vehicle with a top speed near 200 mph while costing significantly more than a custom-built supercar. Additionally, the human cost of system failures would be drastically more than the same failures when experienced in a car.

Black Mariah, I second that!

That doesn't look fligthtworthy at all. Just a giant window with a metal block in the back, with rotors on the top. No landing gear, no way to open the c**kpit or anything. And the chassis looks like its smaller than a bookcase, unless the c**kpit is capable of holding 4 people. They would have to stick a formula-racer-esque engine in there with no room for fuel.Concept art is just art. These things NEVER take off (no pun intended.)

@blackmariah: After reading your post I realized something. There are 2 kinds of people. Those that drive BMWs and people that hate on them for it.

@merreborn,It is indeed quite easy to get lost; the only alternative to a GPS system you have is a compass and a map.Avionic GPS systems are programmed to alert you when you are about to transition an airport's airspace, which would require you to radio for clearance, or of hazards such as mountains, or tall buildings. They also provide information and very accurate reference to features visible from the sky i.e lakes and rivers.I, for one would not have put my life in my friends hands in that two seat airplane without the nice avionic set it had.
