sports.yahoo.com — Bowl Championship Series officials rejected a plan Wednesday to turn the much-criticized system for deciding a national champ into a four-team playoff, starting in the 2010 season. The BCS format will remain the same until at least the 2014 season.

You could even take it one step further. We could have a four-team tournament to start off each year between Stanford, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Baylor and market it with the theme of "Smart kids can play too."The winner would be guaranteed a BCS bowl game at the end of the year, regardless of their standing in their respective conference. (Which undoubtedly would be at the bottom for each.).

Uninformed bulls**t? You think that the Packers play the same in the snow and cold as in warm weather? The first 12 weeks of the season, Favre threw for over 300 yards in 9 of 12 games. The rest of their season (playoffs included), he didn't throw for more than 300 yards once (some not breaking 200). Maybe "pace" was the wrong word to use, style would have been a better fit. SEC teams use a spread offense and run up high numbers, the Big 10 plays with more of a running game balance, because later in the year, they can't spread out and throw the ball as well in the cold and snow, even though a couple teams are moving towards a spread-like offense.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?play ...

“We have decided that because we feel at this time the BCS is in an unprecedented state of health, we feel it’s never been healthier during its first decade, we have made a decision to move forward in the next cycle with the current format,” ACC commissioner and BCS coordinator John Swofford said.State of health equals money, not fan support or competition. In the past, the national champion was decided solely by voters. Now we have the BCS. Ties were eliminated because the computers have issues with them. Instead, a stat padding overtime system was instituted. Mid-major teams are not allowed to compete in the national championship game. There has been controversy with the BCS championship teams since the format debuted. That's healthy? Sorry Mr. Swofford, you are delusional. Either scrap the BCS and go back to pure bowl games or institute a plus one system. Until then, the Division 1-AA (FCS) champion is the only recognized champion in college football.

The people up here only want to see the Pac ten and the Big ten play in the Rose bowl. But if they had the no. 1 or 2 team, they would demand they get to play in a bowl other than the Rose bowl. That is why the Rose bowl is so antiquated. The voters should tell them we will not vote for any of your teams, until you have a fair selection process in place like the other conferences do. That is whichever teams get chosen depending on their ranking in the BCS, will play in the Rose bowl.

After 10+ years of this garbage, I fail to see the difference between the old system and the new. The BCS is a complete joke, and a waste of media air time. It's one of the reasons I watch more pro football now than I ever have, simply because of the air time they give to talking about this stupid system. They need to either abandon the BCS and go back to the way it was prior 1997, or make a tournament. This is pure and utter garbage...and I root for a team to get screwed every year so we don't have to hear some idiot "analyst" inflate his ego once again on ESPN on why he knows "the BCS got it right!". Well the BCS "got it right" in one case, they have everyone talking about it and stirring up more controversy year after year over which team got screwed out of a National title shot. They can try to keep adding new rules to the system every year to try to make the BCS system actually work...but it will never work until a tournament is in place. You can paint crap to look like a different color, but in the end, it's still crap.

It also allows the NCAA favorites to play in the BCS games as well as the National Championships when they don't belong there because of a cupcake schedule (Hint Ohio State).http://www.bodytune.com
