@qzvp This is ed zachary why I don't trust 99% of the so-called climatologists screaming about global warming. Most of them are as qualified to comment on the question as my local weatherman, which is to say not at all.
I've just downloaded and set up the BOINC client. I just happened to have the computerplugged into a <a class="user" href="http://www.brennenstuhl.com/">http://www.brennenstuhl.com/</a> PM230 power meter. With the client suspended,the computer draws 78W, running it draws 103W. 25W times 32,000 hosts is 0.8 megawattsand this is just the first day!
