That is really interesting. Too bad that wrestling has a lot to do with being able to grip. I can't wait until small robots have well-articulated flanges...just think of the possibilites.
I would like to add a level: competition creates practical engineering skills. The rear-view mirror in every car started with a rear-view mirror in the early years of the Indianapolis 500. Robot fighting is interesting because of the skill and precision it takes to succeed against an opponent.
