Those japanese kids can do anything. I've been to tokyo, and i've seen some wacked out people in some arcades there. I emplore you, stay away from the DDR kids in Tokyo, they'll smoke you.
Yes, but shields only protect you from weapons of the same type (blue vs blue, red vs red). I love the part near the middle where one ship is using a blue shield, the other is using a red shield, and he's constantly manouevering them so that one ship protects the other from the corresponding lasers... then once it does its job it doubles back behind the other one for protection when the next wave of the opposite type is about to hit it. That guy has amazing independant two-handed coordination AND he has the whole game memorized (level layout and enemy patterns). That's quite impressive. Is it a waste of time? Probably... but it's still impressive.
