I find it hard to believe that the important security cameras (like ones at a bank) would be so easily thwarted when they could easily use an IR filter (perhaps selectively so that other features that depend on seeing IR light would not be compromised).But for the stacks of Big Brother cameras littering the streets, it's a nice way to reclaim some anonymity/privacy. It probably won't stop goober cops from staring down your shirt/up your dress though.
