geog.ucsb.edu— This dude at UCSB has tons of hi-res satellite images. My favorites are the images of the Earth's curvature. It says that there are five pages, but there are actually four.

At the risk of sounding like the growing group of complainers here (ie.cyberdork), the problem isnt with digg, its with its users. That is the whole point of social engineering. The content on the site is based on items we, the users, not the webmasters, post. Can we please have some intelligent users please. Digg bashers leave the site and go elsewhere.
Well, then let's not post stories with hyperbole. Just the link and a description. Let the user decide if it's "awesome" or not by DIGGing it or not DIGGing it.But I agree, let's not let this go to the depths of /. immediately.
Hi digg.com, this is "dude at UCSB". I read digg.com regularly and was surprised to see this link this afternoon. Server is holding, but if root sends me an email about it something will have to change. The La Conchita landslide at the beginning of this year brought our server to its knees due to my content on that subject, just a heads-up for those who’ve blogged this. You'all are great (with a few exceptions). The sniveling posts of a few users is a drag, this is not /. and I enjoy this page because it isn’t. On that page the complaining is sometimes the most entertaining part, until it gets repetitive, overly negative, and baseless (which it is now more than a few years when I started reading it). These 4 (not 5) pages were created for the Remote Sensing and GIS classes I teach. Although I use these images for educational purposes, and will be using them this quarter in my lectures, I am aware that a few imags might be copyright. Reference them to their appropriate source(s) if you use them, the sensor system is listed as part of the file name, and until I get a nasty note I'll keep them online for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for sharing my page with digg.com NGC6656JHPS – Yes, there are lots of webpages with satellite images, post the links and descriptions. Digg on.

I wouldn't characterize those photos as "awesome." They're nice, but nothing that Blue Marble doesn't have.
