Again, there still is a factor that cannot be outsourced, the replaceing of hardware, on site hardware diagnostic, and what about secure machines that cannot be accessed remotely? there is still need for non outsourced sysadmins.
Outsourcing has been a boon to competent US based programmers. It's been clearing out the cruft and wannabes and allowing us to charge x 1.5 our normal rate for "project rescue".I'm thinking it'll be the same for Sysadmins. Clueless, shortsighted and brain dead CEO's = good times ahead.
How quickly they forget:For four days, all blogs on Google’s Blogger and Six Apart’s TypePad in the world’s largest democracy were mysteriously shut down, sparking an outcry among writers. As it turned out, the government of India had ordered the country’s Internet service providers to block access to some sites a few days after the deadly train bombings in the financial capital of Mumbai on July 11.(<a class="user" href="http://redherring.com/Article.aspx?a=17827&hed=India+Blocks+Blogs)">http://redherring.com/Article.aspx?a=17827&hed=India+Blocks+Blogs)</a>If this is the model for sysadmin work being done in India, then any American company that goes for an "India-administered solution" deserves what havoc they get. Just tell me who they are ahead of time, so I can take my business elsewhere....

I agree with barc001, access to sensitive data is crucial for any company. How can a CEO sleep by giving away the keys to sensitive data to foreigners!
