I don't understand how this gets a front page digg, this type of equipment has been used by US military for years, this is just one of the latest versions.

I've worked with the Smiths stuff. It's pretty cool technology overall. Yes, it will false positive. 409 cleaner used in a room 50 feet away from the detector once had us a bit edgy, as the detector alarmed for nerve agents and we weren't performing any testing... But for a portable unit, their equipment is quite amazing. Our testing with bug repellent didn't set it off.

Why didn't they call this the Automatic Lethal Chemical Agent Detector (i.e. ALCADA)? That way, ALCADA could detect attacks from Al Qaeda!
